Virginia
Virginia is a key state for sPower; currently, we have four projects under development, hundreds of local workers, strong community partnerships and the momentum to shift energy sourcing in the state. Our work here has just begun, and once our projects begin operating millions of dollars of tax revenue will be going back into the communities that have helped us get to where we are.
Recently, we began construction on the Spotsylvania Solar Center; this 500 MWac project in Spotsylvania County will be the largest solar project east of the Rockies and create approximately 800 construction jobs and 35 full-time jobs.
Virginia has set the goal to produce 100 percent of their electricity from carbon-free sources by the year 2050, and we are prepared to help the state achieve this goal. In doing so, we aim to utilize our projects to invest in the communities where we operate. The stable tax revenue generated by each of our projects fund county services such as education and municipalities. On top of this, we have worked hard to bring community benefits through employee volunteerism, donations and meaningful partnerships.

“Renewable Energy as an Economic Driver”
Renewable energy is not only good for the environment, it’s good for the economy. Hear from sPower employees and community leaders about the value renewable energy brings to communities across the country.
“Country Girl”
Landowners play a key role in the development and success of each sPower project, and we work hard to garner trust from the onset. This self-proclaimed “country girl” finds a new use for her property and a new way to farm her land that produces more revenue for her county and continues the legacy of a country life.
